Katie

Image

I have known Katie since she was a quiet little girl with a serious phobia of cutting her long, perfect braid. Now she’s a gorgeous young woman about to embark on a graduate program in range management. I love this girl to death and was SO excited to have a proper shoot with her before she left. The lighting in Pozo where we did our shoot was perfect, and the setting suited Katie perfectly. Enjoy!

Hannah Talya Garfinkel: 5 months old

My cousin and I have been close since we were kids. So when she was diagnosed with ovarian cysts and told that it would be near impossible to conceive, my heart broke for her. She had one pregnancy while she was married to her late husband, but it ended prematurely. After this gut-wrenching ordeal, she resigned herself to the fact that she would likely not have children. She threw herself into school, politics and student government. Somewhere in the midst of this whirlwind, a miracle happened. That miracle is my sweet little cousin, baby Hannah.

Ever since I met this sweet, giggly little one at her Simchat Bat, I have been DYING to do a proper photo shoot for her. So when I drove back up from LAX, I gave my cousin a call. She promptly got Hannah into a sweet pink onesie and brought her down to the park, where we had a blast taking pictures of this charming little miracle baby. I love her.

Now that she’s getting a bit older, I can definitely see how little Hannah takes after her mom. Case in point: this picture…

This is the classic “I’m concentrating!” look that her mom does all the time. Love it! She also has a fun, giggly side that is hard to resist.

How can you resist that?  Of course, I had to get all of her cute little toes and fingers…baby toes are so precious!

Sweet little munchkins like Hannah make me want to jump up and down for joy at God’s goodness! I feel so blessed to know this precious, adorable little bundle of joy.

Ajvish & Yvetta (Engagement)

Have I mentioned that I LOVE taking pictures of my friends? Because I do! A few days ago, I had the privilege of doing some engagement portraits for my dear friend, Yvetta, and her fiance, AJ.  These two lovebirds met through mutual friends and a mutual love of swing dancing. AJ is in the Air Force and currently stationed in snowy North Dakota, where Yvetta will be joining him after they get hitched in July.

Because Yvetta will be moving to North Dakota, she wanted their pictures to remind her of SLO. And remind her of SLO, they will! We traipsed all over, from the Damon Garcia Sports Complex, to her backyard, to the Mission, the garden behind the Mission and the creek area. Such fun!

Thanks for having me take your portraits, guys! You’re lovely and and I <3 you!

“ERIBECK” (engagement)

I love, love, love taking pictures for people I know, so I was super excited to take engagement pictures for my sister and her fiance, Erick. Their story is such an amazing illustration of God’s redemptive love and the healing power of forgiveness.

Becky and Erick have been dating off and on for about five years. They first became acquainted when Becky was coaching his two girls in gymnastics in Atascadero.  They saw each other when he would drop off or pick up the girls, but never really talked. Then, one year at the fair, they met through some mutual friends and hit it off. They started dating, but there were definitely some issues.

They tried to work things out, but it just resulted in a crazy break up/get back together cycle that drove them (and everyone around them) a little bit crazy. Then, they started going to church. They each re-dedicated their lives to Christ and started getting counseling.  It’s been a little over a year since they started seeing their pastor regularly and working through all of the things they had held against each other over the years.

Their lives have been transformed and their love for each other is renewed. They are so ecstatic about each other and the prospect of sharing their lives together that it brings tears to my eyes.

Thank you, sis and Erick, for being such great models! It was an honor to be your photographer. I love you both!!!

My favorite photo

My friend Jessica over at photo freak has asked us all to post our “favorite” pictures of all time.  Choose a favorite picture!?  That’s a bit like picking a favorite child, but I ‘ll give it a shot.  I DO like this picture I took of Cortney & Jason at Santa Margarita Ranch.  Perhaps I’ll give it a go!

It’s official: my work is now on display in a gallery!  I’ve become part of the Laurel Underground Arts group here in Laurel, Mississippi, and two of my pieces are on display for the current show.  While I love portraiture, I’ve also done some more artistic work.  The two pieces I have in the gallery currently are:

'Wild Ride'

"Young Love"

Prints are available for both of these images for 5×7 up to 20×24 size.  If you are interested in purchasing a matted, framed print, e-mail or call me!

Senior Portraits

It’s summertime and you know what that means: time for incoming seniors to book a session for senior portraits!  I love senior portraits because they give you an opportunity to really show your personality.  There are so many things you can do to personalize your portraits: incorporate items that are special to you, take your pictures at a favorite location, and capture the expressions that show who YOU really are!

Here are a few of my favorite senior portrait moments.  I think they really capture the personality of the person I photographed:

Katie is a dear, dear friend of mine.  She is a quiet,  pensive kind of girl, with one of the kindest hearts I have ever known.  I really wanted to capture Katie’s sweet, demure personality.  I think Katie’s expression in this black and white photo does that just perfectly!

Becky  is boisterous, daring, and full of life.  The sunshine over her shoulder and her beautiful smile show her fun-loving personality.

Beau is an easygoing guy who loves the outdoors and getting his hands dirty. We did his senior portraits at his family’s ranch, where he has been helping bring the place back to life.  Here, Beau is kicking back against an old, rusted water  tank: the perfect scene for a true country boy.

So if you’re ready for your senior portraits, give me a call!  I’m looking forward to getting to know you, and capturing images that show off the things that make you uniquely YOU.
